Phil Day, JD, LL.M (tax), MBA, CPA/PFS, CFP®
Phil is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, which
is a certification Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. Only those who
demonstrate the requisite experience, education, and ethical standards are
awarded and authorized to use the CFP® mark.
Phil has also obtained his PFS designation, or Personal
Financial Specialist, which is the financial planning specialty credential
issued by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)
exclusively to qualified Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) with proven
experience in comprehensive personal financial planning. The AICPA is the
premier professional association for CPAs in the U.S. and has more than 350,000
members. One must be a CPA member in good standing with the State and of the AICPA
before you can obtain the PFS Credential.
In addition to holding the above referenced certifications,
Phil is licensed with an independent broker-dealer. as a Registered
Representative and Investment Advisor Representative in the State of Florida.
He also holds his Florida Health, Life, and Variable Annuity licenses.
Phil graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in
Economics. He subsequently received his M.B.A. from the Owen Graduate School of
Management at Vanderbilt University, graduating with a dual concentration in
Accounting and Management Information Systems. Following business school, he
received his law degree from the Indiana University School of Law and his LL.M.
in taxation from the University of Florida College of Law. He is a member in good
standing with the Florida Bar.
After graduating from the University of Florida School of
Law Graduate Tax Program, Phil joined a “Big 6” accounting firm as a tax
consultant. In 1997, Phil accepted a position with a large Tampa law firm
specializing in tax and business transactions. Wanting to utilize a broader
array of his skills, he left to work as the CFO for a privately held client
where he counseled the owner on business succession strategies. Having a desire
to make a difference and help clients realize their personal objectives, Phil
started his own estate and financial planning practice in 2005 upon leaving his
position as a Senior Financial Planner with a nationally recognized bank.
