We need proactive leadership in Washington to deal with the oil spill nightmare!
By Latest Blog Entries | June 18, 2010 at 06:28 PM EDT | No Comments

Well I guess it's about time to start blogging as I develop my new site.  Rather than bore you wiith legal technicalities, I'll just talk about the latest thing on my mind.  Being in Florida, it's hard not to be concerned about the oil spill.  We are all hoping and praying that the leak will be capped soon and that the oil will be cleaned up quickly however, our disdain for the federal leadership is mounting.  Nothing upset me more when our President stated that he was concerned with "kicking someone's ass."  As an attorney I expect nothing less from a fellow attorney because that is how we are trained to think...reactively.  However, in the practical world and as an estate planner, we pride ourselves on or proactive approach to planning.  We know that someone is responsible for the problem but as planners we try to mitigate the problem before we worry about the consequences of an untamed problem.  I guess I expect something more from our leadership.  There will be plenty of time to point fingers and assign blame later.  The bigger issue is stopping the leak and getting the full might of our national forces to clean up the oil before it does serious damage to our environment and livelihoods.  To our current government, I ask that you start being proactive in your approach to problems rather than being reactive.  Maybe we need a planner at our helm rather than a finger pointer.  Just a thought....
